While incorporating enjoyable music and movement activities and percussion playing, this course also introduces written musical patterns. These patterns initially focus on rhythm and tonal patterns that the children have been singing since they were infants.
This children’s learning program offers a variety of activities that aim to cultivate “Musical Literacy” and prepare children for individual instrumental learning. Musical Literacy encompasses the ability to play music both by ear and by reading notes. The program incorporates singing to nurture children’s aural development, encourages creative and structured movement, provides opportunities for instrument playing and ensemble work, includes ear training exercises, and promotes guided listening. This developmentally appropriate approach to music literacy fosters symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and self-expression. As part of their musical journey, children also begin to explore written musical notation.
